Every once in a while a wedding I’m lucky to be a part of leaves a lasting impression on me. There have been a few of those over the course of my short photography career, but I think this one ranks up there in the top 5 or so.

Why, you may ask? Because Cameron and Joey are the picture perfect example of what a lasting relationship is. My good friend Amber who shot the wedding with me put it best on her blog post last week. You can read about it here because I’m not too good at getting mushy.

Cameron and Joey have been together since 7th grade and through thick and thin have stuck by each others side for 13 years! Even though I’ve known Joey through our mutual love for photography for a few years now, I only recently learned about his amazing relationship with Cameron while I was in San Diego last year doing their engagement session. Being able to capture all the emotion during the day of their wedding was truly amazing. So now, here’s a preview of the beautiful couple on their wedding day.

Josie & Tri | Kim Son Wedding Downtown, Houston

There’s something about Kim Son restaurant. For me, its a comfortable place. Maybe its because I got married at the Bellaire location… or it could be the countless dinners and buffets I’ve been to with my wife’s family over the years. Whatever the reason, I never seem to mind going there.

The same comfortable feeling was there when I was around Josie & Tri. Easy going, warm, and very relaxed. Relaxed enough to let me pick their engagement shoot location for that matter. So when it came to the wedding, it was as if the pressure was off and it was just another day of hanging out with friends and family for this kickass couple. The day started at Josie’s parents house with a very short and informal tea ceremony, then the church for their vows, and finally onto Kim Son downtown for the reception and some partying. The venue was beautiful, the couple, was beautiful, and there were 6 foot tall letters on stage at the wedding so there was no doubt whose wedding you were going to.

Naimisha & Vivek | Lakeway Resort & Spa Indian Wedding, Austin

There’s just something about Indian weddings that you can’t explain until you have the full experience on a personal level. The culture, the colors, the energy, everything about it. It’s amazing. I’ve had the pleasure of doing a few Indian weddings over the last few years and not a single one has been like the others… but they’ve all been amazingly fun (and long). And as you can tell, this one was no different. The wedding was held at the beautiful Lakeway Resort and Spa, and I had the pleasure of having one of my very good and long time friends, Dave McLaughlin, accompany me on this wedding. From start to end it was a blast… but I’m sure you can tell by looking through the pics. Cindel & Jason | Petroleum Club Wedding, Houston

What better way to start the year off than with an absolutely amazing and fun wedding like this. I’m sitting here trying to think of the right words to describe this wedding, and I honestly can’t come up with any. The only thing I can come up with is ‘phenomenal’. That’s it.

The fun factor for this wedding was off the charts. Cindel & Jason even put on an absolutely awesome flash dance that included their parents shaking and getting down with them. And to top it off, everyone (and I do mean everyone) danced until the very last second when it was time to leave! This wedding will be one that I talk about for a long long time, and if they’d like to get married once a year, every year, I’ll gladly be a part of that too! 2012 highlights

As another amazing year comes to a close, I think of all the great moments and the great times I had with some very amazing clients, vendors, friends, and event coordinators. So this year instead of making a long blog post, I decided to put together some highlights of the sessions.

First things first, the beautiful couples and their engagement sessions.

Then we have the bridals sessions with a mix of a very thought out shoot put together by an amazing bride.

And last (but not least) the beautiful weddings of 2012.

And lastly, one of the greatest moments in my personal life… I became an uncle.

Thank you for making 2012 such a memorable year. Looking forward to making more memories in 2013! This year, we’ll be starting early… so look for a blog post for the first 2013 wedding in less than 2 weeks.

Shireen & Toan | Hotel ZaZa Wedding, Houston

Although this wedding was put together in a mere two months, you’d never know it. Down to the last detail, it was absolutely beautiful and beautifully put together thanks to the lovely Sobi of Lion & Lamb Event Services. The venue, the decor, and the couple… all beautiful. I loved being a part of this amazing wedding and I can’t think of a better way to close out my 2012 year! Shireen & Toan, thank you for having me as such a big part of your wedding and I look forward to the promised hunting trip with Toan very soon!

Jennifer & Lucas | The Admiral On Clear Lake Wedding, Houston

For Lucas, this day had big meanings because his brother who is also a Naval Officer was scheduled to have off to be attending the wedding as the best man. But sadly, there was a last minute change and that did not happen. So in the spirit of not being down, Jennifer came up with a brilliant idea to have Lucas’ brother at the wedding and in pictures… not to mention, fully participating in the fun. A cardboard cutout!

So not only did Lucas’ brother attended the wedding, but he was in the family formal pictures, gave a speech, got photo booth pictures taken, and even made his way on to the dance floor. Overall a successful night!

It’s always bittersweet when the wedding of a couple that you get to know, love, and enjoy being around has come and gone. It’s a great feeling being a part of the most important day of their lives and get to spend that day with them documenting it for the rest of their lives. From Niki & Samar’s engagement session in Dallas this summer to the wedding, I can’t say enough great things about this couple and their families. Humble, genuine, and generally great people.

Bronwen & Richard | Barr Mansion Wedding, Austin

We’ve known each other for well over 20 years now, and through her travels to different schools in the country, we’ve managed to stay in touch for all these years.
